Research interests

my current research is focused on:

i) multiple male traits and female choice, with particular attention to the expression of multiple pre-copulatory sexual traits and to both male mating success and male quality in the peacock blenny Salaria pavo;

ii) antimicrobial production and male parental care, with particular attention to the efficacy of male antimicrobials in enhancing hatching success and to the intra-specific variability in antimicrobial production and female choice;

iii) nest choice and egg characteristics in demersal spawners, with particular attention to species and nests distribution.

My research include also the study of fish colonization processes and of fish assemblages in coastal rocky shores, with the aim of understanding the major factors shaping their structure and the response to environmental changing (with Carlotta Mazzoldi).
