Research

My research interest focuses on fish reproductive biology and I’m involved in the projects on:

· Multiple male traits and female choice. In addition to the studies on the peacock blenny and the guppy, I’m collaborating with Yvonne Sadovy de Mitcheson and George Mitcheson, on the mating system and the relationship between male ornamentation and fertility in the mandarinfish Synchiropus splendidus.

· Antimicrobial production and male parental care in gobies and blennies.

· Fertilization dynamics and the influence of sperm competition in gobies.

· I’m also collaborating with Andrea Pilastro and Carlotta Mazzoldi on the coevolution of male and female genitalia in relation to male harassment across poeciliid species.
I also do my best in informing the public on the results of research group, and, in general, on evolutionary biology and conservation. To know more about these activities, see below (in Italian only, sorry).
