Our postal address is: University of Padua
Dept. Biomedical Sciences
Viale G. Colombo, 3
I-35121 Padua  -  Italy
More specifically, we are on the 2nd floor, North (which translates into turning to the right when you get to our floor) of the Vallisneri Biology Complex.
To find your way, just follow the directions below - and remember that, in Italian,
this city is called Padova.
BY TRAIN Resist the temptation to go all the way to Venice - you can do that later, after you've settled down... There's only one station in Padua, so there isn't much that you can do wrong here. From the station to our lab it's a 15-20 min walk at a leisurely pace; use Map A, on the right, and you'll not get lost. MAP A

If you prefer, taxis are readily available outside the station; it will take you about 5 min and it's not prohibitively expensive. It's somewhat complicated to get into the Vallisneri; please follow the instructions below.

BY PLANE You'll most likely land in Venice's Marco Polo airport. From there, you can reach Padua by bus, taxi or car.

By bus:

The trip will take roughly one hour and you'll arrive at a bus terminal that is conveniently close to the Vallisneri complex. Unless you're heavily loaded (in which case a taxi may be easily summoned), we suggest a quiet walk along the river. Map A shows you the route to take.

By car or taxi (impress your taxi driver by knowing where to go!):
  • Get on the A4 motorway towards Padua.
  • Get off the motorway at Padova-Est (Padua-East).
  • Follow the directions towards Centro.
  • After a while you'll find yourself on a small flyover (overpass, if you're American); start counting traffic lights.
  • The first is almost immediately at the end of the flyover; the second about 500m further along. You should be in Via Venezia, with a shopping mall on your right and some petrol stations coming up on your left.
  • The third traffic light is at a roundabout (Stanga); see also Map B, on the right.
  • Take the second exit from this roundabout - you're still in Via Venezia.
  • At the fourth traffic light you'll see a FIAT sign on your right. Soon after that, a fifth light is for pedestrians only, and the sixth comes up in about 400m. Almost immediately afterwards, turn left at the seventh traffic light; you're in Via Ugo Bassi.
  • Turn immediately left again, following Via Ugo Bassi.
  • At the end of the street is the entrance to the Vallisneri Biology Complex, closed by a crossbar. If you're by car, ring the bell (or call us) to get in and try to find a parking place.
